How much HP does an after market intercooler add on a turbo car?
Does it cut down on lag?
It shouldn’t cut down on lag and it makes a difference how much boost you are running. For instance a 5psi car would see nothing to very little improvement but if you’ve got a 30psi boosted car (not a good idea) the improvements are pretty good.

Generally just adding a larger intercooler will add to the lag and do nothing for performance. With tuning though, you can tune a little more aggressively and probably up the boost a little for some power gain. And if it’s a good kit with proper piping and pipe diameters, a good tuner can tune most of the increased lag out and you probably won’t notice the difference. It does depend on the size of the turbo though. I have a WRX for example and my stock turbo was s o small that a big front mount would have been very laggy no matter how it was tuned. But with a bugger turbo, I have very little lag and it feels great. Lag is like foreplay any way.
